Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is an instant real-time payment system developed by NPCI to facilitate inter-bank transactions through mobile phones. UPI is mainly used in India, but now many countries are accepting this paymet method as well.
So, here are the list of countries that are adopting India’s Unified Payments Interface.
France
France has recently allowed UPI services in the country.
Indian tourists can now buy tickets for Paris’ iconic Eiffel Tower via UPI.
Bhutan
Bhutan became the first country outside India to enable UPI transactions.
Oman
In 2022, Oman also started accpeting payments through UPI.
UAE
On April 21, 2022, UPI was launched in the country through Mashreq's NeoPay.
Southeast Asia
NIPL signed a deal with Liquid Group, a cross-border digital payments provider to start QR-based UPI services available across north and Southeast Asia including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Philippines, South Korea and Japan.
United Kingdom (UK)
In August 2022, UK started accepting India's QR-based UPI transactions.
Europe
Worldline partnered with NIPL in October 2022 to enable India’s UPI services across Europe using Worldline QR, initially targeting countries like Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
