Who is Mia Khalifa? The former adult star extending support to farmers' protest in India

In the wake of the South Lebanon conflict, Mia moved to the United States of America in 2001 with her family. Raised a Catholic, Mia attended a French-language private school in Beirut, where she was also imparted lessons in English. A graduate from the University of Texas at El Paso with a BA in History, Mia supported herself by doing various jobs such as working as a bartender, model, and 'briefcase girl' on a Spanish game show.

In early 2014, Mia's then-husband, whose name hasn't ever been disclosed, would post pornographic images of her. The same year in October, Mia entered the professional pornographic industry because of which her parents publicly disowned her. However, her videos and images got her instant fame and popularity. All of 22 that time, Mia became one of the most-searched-for performers on an adult video sharing website. After she shot to fame, Mia also received several death threats including a manipulated image of an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant executioner preparing to behead her. However, she wasn't one to get intimidated by such threats. She continued working in the adult industry until she revealed in a 2016 interview that she had quit after three months of working in the professional pornographic industry.

In 2016, Mia Khalifa revealed in The Washington Post interview that she had only performed in pornography for three months and had quit the industry soon after and changed to a "more normal job." She said, "I guess it was my rebellious phase. It wasn't really for me. I kind of smartened up and tried to distance myself from that."

After quitting the adult film industry, Mia worked in Miami as a paralegal and bookkeeper. Later, Mia transitioned into a career as a social media personality, webcam model and sports commentator. 

Mia has a massive social media fan following. On Instagram Mia has over 22 million followers whereas, on Twitter, the social media influencer has an impressive 3.5 million fans following her on the micro-blogging site. 

After quitting the adult industry, Mia indulged herself in political and social activism of sorts. From raising money for the victims of the Beirut explosion in 2020, openly speaking about the ill-treatment towards women in the porn industry to being vocal about racial issues and extending support to Black Lives Matter, Mia has lent her voice to many causes. Most recently, the farmers protest in India.
