The tensions between Russia and Ukraine have been going on for over a month now, with the Russian forces advancing and capturing several cities in the country, reportedly leaving behind a chilling trail of civilian casualties.

With the tails of horror continuing from several parts of Ukraine, recently reports have emerged that nearly 300 people have been buried in a mass grave in the town of Bucha. This comes as the Ukrainian army regained control of some of its key cities from Russia.

While speaking to news agency AFP, Bucha mayor Anatoly Fedoruk said, “In Bucha, we have already buried 280 people in mass graves.” He further added that the streets of the town are heavily destroyed and are littered with corpses.

On Saturday, media reports said that many bodies were seen lying on the streets of Bucha in civilian clothing. The mayor had further said that all the people were killed by getting shot in the back of their heads. All the victims were adult men and women, but a 14-year-old boy was also seen among the dead.

The mayor further said that many of the bodies were marked with white bandages, to show that they were unarmed. He added that the town still had cars on the streets with entire families killed inside, including men, women, children, and grandmothers.

While recounting the horrors of the town, Fedoruk said that it was not yet known how many civilians were killed in Bucha amid the Russian invasion. The streets of the town will be cleared by sappers in the next three to four days, he added as per AFP.

The Ukrainian forces retook the town of Bucha from the Russian army after nearly a month. The armed forces, while making their way through the town, discovered that 300 residents of the town had been killed, and a mass grave at one church ground was still open, with hands and feet poking through the red clay heaped on top.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine began in the last week of February, when the Russian forces crossed the border and launched a series of attacks on several key cities of the country, including the capital city of Kyiv. According to reports, there have been thousands of civilian casualties in Ukraine till now.
