A 19-year old youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his hostel room on Wednesday morning.

Richard Loyta, who hails from Manipur, was found dead in Acharaya Institute Hostel room in Mayadenahalli.  Loyta was pursuing BE Architecture in an engineering college in the city.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Loyta went out with his friends on April 15.

On the way back to the hostel, Loyta and his pillion met with an accident near Sapthagiri Hospital in Chikkabanavara.
Instead of getting treated immediately, Loyta said he could handle the pain and got back to the hostel.

However, the next day, Loyta and his friend who rode pillion with him the previous day, went to Sapthagiri Hospital and got themselves treated for minor bruises and scratches. However, Loyta completely neglected the minor head injury.

On April 17, Richard and his hostel mates were watching the IPL match when they got into an argument with other hostel mates from Jharkhand. The tiff led to a fistfight and resulted in Richard getting punched on his face.

He suffered injuries near his left eyebrow and started bleeding profusely.

Once again, Loyta went to the hospital to get treated and reached the hostel at 10.30 pm.

When Loyta’s room mates woke up the next morning, they found Loyta was sitting on the bed, with his head down on his laptop.
He had his earphones on. Presuming that Loyta was listening to music or fiddling with the laptop, his room mates left him and went about their daily chores. At 1 pm, one of Loyta’s room mates called out to him and asked him to come for lunch.

Seeing that Loyta had been sitting in the same position since the previous night, his room mate went near him and shook him. The lifeless body of Loyta collapsed on the bed.

The hostel authorities immediately alerted the police.  The head of Manipur state police too wrote to the city police chief seeking a detailed probe.  Investigations are on and police are yet to ascertain the exact reason of his death. Preliminary investigations revealed that Loyta was a drug addict.
