With her cherubic looks and stealer of a performance, five-year-old baby Sara Arjun indeed stole the show in the Tamil film Deiva Thirumagal. Be it the court scene during the climax or the manner in which she emotes when she tries to communicate to Vikram through the window — Sara is truly a performer.

This very young actor shot her first commercial when she was only one-and-a-half-years old and her repertoire includes around 60 advertisement commercials and three films so far. Her father Raj Arjun, who is  an actor himself, and mother Sanya, a dance tutor, informs that she is naughty and talkative, which came through rather evidently in the interview. “I want to be a famous actor,” she pauses, adding, “No, actually an all-rounder. I get to be a doctor, scientist and play different roles. I also want to be a director after watching Vijay uncle (director of Deiva Thirumagal). It’s so exciting.”

Speaking about how she entered the industry, her mother, Sanya, says, “She used to be very active even when she was a baby. Several visitors keep telling us that she should act in commercials as she is very shrewd and beautiful. Later, Raj’s friend and director Vijay shot her for a commercial. The response was pretty good, and she started getting offers from then on.”

Sara debuted in Hindi with 404 which saw play the role of Tisca Chopra’s daughter. Later, when the auditions for the child actor were on for Deiva..., Vijay called her again for the auditions and chose her for the role of Nila. “Vijay handed the script three months before the shoot. One of my friends helped her in tutoring the Tamil dialogues and when she arrived for the first day of shoot, she was so much more confident. She even learnt Vikram’s dialogues and prompted him when ever he pauses,” reveals Sanya.

So, who does Sara likes the most, we ask. “I like Vikram appa a lot... he just loves me and takes care of me like his baby. I also like Anushka and Vijay uncle,” she says. Before we probe the next question, she immediately interrupts, “I also like Prakash Raj, he acted well in Singham; I want to act with him as well. I love my papa too.” With more offers coming her way, Sanya and Raj are convinced only with scripts that give her a meaty role.
