Controversial Jammu and Kashmir MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid on Sunday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi "to open his eyes" to the "radical forces", who he said were proving a serious threat to the humanity, in the wake of death of a truck conductor after being attacked in Udhampur.

The Independent MLA, who had hosted a beef party here two days before the attack on Kashmir-based truck in Udhampur, appealed to civil society and "conscience loving" people to rise to the occasion and sideline the radical fascist forces who are proving a serious threat to humanity.

The Kashmiri truck conductor, who was injured in a petrol bomb attack in Udhampur district, died in a Delhi hospital today. Rashid asked the Prime Minister "to open his eyes and see what the hell is going on all around". The MLA also sought compensation on Dadri pattern for the slain conductor, saying there was complete resemblance in both the incidents.

Meanwhile, state unit of CPI(M) expressed grief over Zahid's death and said the government should take the incident as a "wake-up call" and bring the culprits to justice.

"The incident must act as an eye opener for the present dispensation that is yet to act against the forces that are hell bent to fragment the society on communal lines," CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami said in a statement.
