Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today said infrastructure should be developed at the famous ski resort of Gulmarg but the work should be done in complete consonance with ecological and environmental requirements.

"Infrastructure development should be carried on in complete consonance with ecological and environmental requirements without tampering with the natural beauty of the hill resort," Abdullah said addressing the 5th meeting of Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) at Gulmarg, 60km from here, yesterday.

Reiterating the government's determination to restore state's pristine glory of being the choicest tourist resort for the national and international tourists of wide-ranging interests, Abdullah asked tourism development authorities to work for integrated and comprehensive tourism development.

He said in order to make the Gulmarg world class ski resort, the chairlift project should be taken beyond Koungdori.

"This would give people beautiful and standard skiing track and slopes and help organise national and international skiing events," Abdullah, who is also the chairman of GDA, said.
