Woman, son commit suicide fearing implication in murder case in Indore

In a new twist to the journalist Anil Soni murder case, a woman along with her son committed suicide fearing that they would be implicated in the killing, police said today.

Bharti Verma, 45, her sons Luv, 20, and Chirag, 23, consumed poisonous substance yesterday, police said adding that Bharti and Luv died in a hospital while condition of Chirag is stated to be critical.

"Though Soni's mother Manju suspects that we were behind the killing of his son, we have nothing to do with the murder. We are ending our lives," a suicide note of the victims said.

Bharti and her two sons had locked their house for last couple of days and were staying at different places fearing that they would be implicated in Soni murder case, the relatives of the victims alleged.

Police suspect that one Shakir Chacha was involved in the murder case. Luv used to work in Shakir's Cable business.

A case against Shakir and Luv had been registered when they were allegedly planning to commit a robbery eight months back, police said.

Soni was shot dead when he was returning from his office on October 8.
