‘Goa’s just perfect for dates’

Fashion designer Mandira Wirk loves short, relaxed vacations with her husband. And topping her list of destinations is Goa.

“The place is serene and romantic. It has everything from carnivals to music and dance,” says Mandira, insisting that she also admires Goa for its cultural heritage, lush greenery and magnificent churches. “It helps me through a hectic life and spend time with loved ones, free of worries,” she adds.

Mandira last visited Goa on New Year’s Eve and vouches for the place as having a perfect mix of the conventional and modern.

But she enjoys strutting around in Goa at any time of the year, especially during Valentine’s Day. “Romance is always in the air in Goa. The laid back atmosphere, the captivating beaches, the effect of the psychedelic trance music are all relaxing. And the joy is multiplied when I’m in the company of my loved ones — the whole experience becomes so enthralling,” she adds.

Mandira has fond memories of spending much deserved quality time with her husband at the beach and says that she distinctly remembers the feeling of walking bare foot on the soft sand.

The designer also happened to drop by at a music festival there. “It was a deadly combination of the sun, sand, flea market, sports and a stellar line up of DJs that made it a fun-filled evening.
The trip, says Mandira, took her back to her courtship days. Nothing, she says, can surpass the feeling of having lunch at the beach side. “Goa, I’d say, is the perfect place for one’s first and many more dates,” she
concludes.
