In the past year, Mumbai Metro made Rs 13.1 crore from ads, leasing of stalls

Ticketing is not the only source of revenue for the Mumbai Metro- the other two sources of revenue are advertisement rights and leasing of stalls. In the last year, these two options have generated Rs 13.1 crore for the Mumbai Metro.

Ticketing is not the only source of revenue for the Mumbai Metro- the other two sources of revenue are advertisement rights and leasing of stalls. In the last year, these two options have generated Rs 13.1 crore for the Mumbai Metro.

In all, there are 52 stalls spread over 12 metro stations along the 11.4-km long Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar network. There are three stalls each at Azad Nagar, Airport Road, Marol Naka, Asalpha and Jagruti Nagar.

The most number of stalls are at Andheri metro station (8 stalls) followed by Ghatkopar (7 stalls).

"Till the financial year 2015, revenue earned from the sale or lease or renting of stalls is Rs 5.6 crores. Till June 8, it is approximately Rs 6.6 crores," shared a Mumbai Metro One official.

Mumbai Metro has tied up with an advertisement company for putting up commercials at its stations. In the past year, that is up to June 8, display of advertisements fetched approximately Rs 6.5 crore for the Mumbai Metro.

Mumbai Metro has also initiated development of road medians below the viaduct or corridor on a sponsorship basis. Some of the locations where tree plantation has been made include Airport Road, Marol Naka, and Western Express Highway.
