Parents, accompanied by mouth organ players, on Thursday protested against the government’s apathy towards regularisation of fees for private schools by enacting a special law.

The parents of Crescent High School, Gultekdi, and Rosary Schools Parents’ Association staged a protest in front of the Central Building and later took out a rally to the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. The parents sang ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’ and later submitted a memorandum to district collector Chandrakant Dalvi.

The protest was led by Matin Mujawar of Crescent High School Parents’ Association. The associations of both the schools are continuously protesting against the fees hike issue by private schools in the city.

The members demanded that there should be a common admission process for admissions to kinder-garten seats instead of parents waiting day and night in the queues.

The parents demanded that the government immediately bring a fee regulation Act which would monitor and regularise fees demanded by private schools in the state.

The members also demanded that all schools in the state be aided and the concept of non-aided schools be abolished.
