Mumbaikars were treated by the rain gods to a second consecutive evening of rain and pleasant weather and on Thursday. 

The city experienced scorching heat in the afternoon but with heavy clouds hovering in the sky, the temperature lowered by evening. Within a span of three hours from 5pm to 7.30pm, Colaba received 1.1 mm of rainfall and Santacruz got 14.2 mm.

Lakes Vihar, Bhatsa, Tulsi and Upper Vaitarna received a good amount of rain. However, the maximum temperature in Mumbai stood at 33degree celsius, while the minimum temperature slid to 22.7 degree celsius on Thursday. 

The rains continued to affect normal traffic during rush hour for the second consecutive day. 

Parts of the Western Express Highway, SV Road, Sakinaka Junction, Pandurang Budhkar Marg, Dr BA Road were choked. 

The Central Railway was delayed for over 30 minutes and trains left CST 15 minutes after their scheduled departure time. The Harbour line also saw 15-minute delays. 

“This wet spell shall continue in the next 48 hours. Expect light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms in the next few days,” said VK Rajeev, Director IMD.

Two people lost their lives due to the lightning on Wednesday.

Trilokhi Upadhyay, 56, and Israel Shaikh, 28, died at Thakur Village at Kandivli after lightning struck them. 

The duo was at a quarry at Singh Estate when they died as lightning stuck them.
