How do you recharge your batteries for a live show like ‘Dial One Aur Jeeto’?

I recharge myself by keeping cool. Preparation would hinder my spontaneity, but I do rehearse to know the names of the participants, their phone numbers and the questions to be put forth to them.

What is the difference between hosting ‘Dial One…’ and the other shows?

The concept of contestants defending their prizes is an entirely new one. My other shows have been social or political satires, but this one is full of fun. I unwind by hosting this show.

What is the trick to being a good anchor?

I have five shows. My new show ‘Aap Ka Haq’ will soon start on a new channel called Janmat. Anchoring is like acting. I create different characters by speaking and behaving differently in every show.

So, how do you balance five different shows at the same time?

Firstly, this is my job. I have to do it honestly. But I blend my honesty with passion. That drives me to give my best. I try to be 100 per cent correct every time I face the camera. I don’t know whether I achieve that or not. But I believe that a lot of hard work has led to my success.

How would you rate yourself as a performer?

It is foolish to rate myself. The audience is my best judge. I started with acting, but have gradually become a communicator, connector, entertainer, writer, director, producer, singer and a composer. I have opened up to my viewers. Let them decide what I do best.

What is your USP as a performer?

It’s my honesty towards work. I have gone through tragedies in life, but I haven’t forgotten my commitment towards my work for even a single day.
