As Apple prepares to launch a mini iPhone 5S, which may also be named iPhone 5SE, here is a wishlist from an Android fanboy who's always admired Apple's sleek but expensive smartphones.

  • A decent price tag: Why are Apple phones always so expensive? Yes, R&D is expensive, they always have a premium finish, and there is a certain level of innovation, but why charge your custmers so much when your company renders the model outdated in a year, and out of production in two?

  • A decent price tag: Compare a decently specced Android phone to an iPhone with similar hardware, and you're likely to find the latter priced at a lot more.

  • A decent price tag: Yes, Apple did dangle that lower price when the iPhone 5C was launched, but then sort of under-delivered with that plastic body. Come on, Apple…you could do better.

  • A decent price tag: Taking into account the price tag associated with the iPhone, Apple offers a 16GB model despite the device having no expandable memory. In this day and age, with Live Photos, exceedingly large apps and a plethora of other causes to burn through your storage, it's unacceptable to offer a storage solution that was outdated a while ago, while retaining a current price point.

  • A decent price tag: In addition to everything else, Apple's is a closed ecosystem. Need headphones or a replacement charger? Pay up. Want to download your favourite Android apps or games? Fork it over. Need to transfer your downloaded music to your iPhone? Not happening. This kind of monopoly is what Apple claimed it was fighting when it pitched the first Macs against the monolithic IBM back in the day.

Basically, if Apple considered dropping it's price range a little bit, it's likely a lot of previously disdainful users would love to give their offerings a try.
