The Baroda Cricket Association could face the Board Of Control For Cricket In India's (BCCI) ire for not following its recent directive in distribution of match passes to former BCCI secretary Jaywant Lele and ex-Test stumper Nayan Mongia.

"The BCCI has recently issued circular that all match hosting associations should issue pavilion passes for international matches conducted by them to former Board presidents, secretaries and ex-Test cricketers.

"But myself, as well as Nayan Mongia, were today given passes for other stands to watch tomorrow's ODI (between India and New Zealand) by the BCA," Lele told PTI here.

Lele also showed a copy of the BCCI's circular detailing the protocol to be adopted while distributing passes for international matches to former functionaries of the Board and ex-international cricketers.

"I have spoken to the Board president Mr Shashank Manohar on the issue and he also concurred with me that I should have been given pavilion passes and not those of stands opposite to the pavilion," said the 73-year-old Lele.

"Nayan Mongia told me that he had rejected the non-pavilion passes issued to him by the BCA officials," the former Board secretary added.

Incidentally Lele is a former BCA secretary and got elevated to the Board after serving the Baroda Cricket Association for several years.

He also said that there was no specific directive given earlier on the issue of passes by the BCCI and it was up to the associations to observe protocol.

"During my days at the BCA we used to give only pavilion passes to former Board functionaries," he explained.
