Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with the way his team performed on the pitch on Saturday after laying down the law to his players this week following a series of high profile off-the-field news stories.

Two goals from Didier Drogba gave the league leaders a 2-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers as Chelsea pulled four points clear at the top of the Premier League table after champions Manchester United lost 3-1 at Everton.

"I am very happy, because after the defeat of Manchester United we had the possibility of improving the lead at the top of the table -- and we did," Ancelotti told Sky Sports.

"We have won an important game, but we have to stay quiet, stay calm because there are a lot of games to play. We had a good spirit -- we are ready to do battle and I think we deserved to win."

He was especially pleased with Drogba, who scored his 24th and 25th goals of the season.

"He is very important to us, obviously," the Italian added, "but he is improving his leadership here. He is helping the team and we hope he can maintain this level."

Ancelotti and other senior officials met with the players in the week urging them to behave following media allegations surrounding the private lives of captain John Terry and fellow England defender Ashley Cole.

Terry, who missed last week's FA Cup tie against Cardiff City for personal reasons, returned to the side on Saturday. Cole will be missing until the end of the season with a serious ankle injury.
