The city on Monday witnessed a dip in both day and night temperatures, with the cold breeze keeping mercury under control. The weather office has predicted that the wintery chill, that returned to Ahmedabad after a brief gap, will continue during the next 48 hours. While day temperatures are expected to remain confined to 28 degrees Celsius, night temperatures are likely to remain between 10-11 degrees Celsius during the next two days.

According to IMD director Jayanta Sarkar, the dip in both day and night temperatures in the city is likely to continue as the western disturbance, which was affecting the entry of cold northerly winds in the state, has moved towards the east. "Due to the western disturbance, clouding was witnessed in several areas of the state last week which inhibited the entry of colder northerly winds. Not that its impact is over, skies have cleared and mercury is likely to go down for a while before it starts gradually increasing," Sarkar said.

As per the meteorologist, the city is going to witness a clear sky in the next two-three days, after which there will be isolated clouding, which might result in a minor rise in day and night temperatures. However, he clarified that the maximum temperature in the city is not going to cross 28-29 degrees Celsius in the current week, whereas the minimum temperatures are likely to remain confined to 12 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the weather office on Monday recorded a minimum temperature of 10.2 degrees Celsius, a decline of 3 degrees Celsius over Sunday's minimum temperature of 13.2 degrees Celsius.
