AHMEDABAD
When PM Modi reached the venue of an event organised by the Kadva Patel community in the outskirts of Ahmedabad, the crowd of 70,000 people greeted him with cheers.
Patels, the community that sulked over their reservation demand for three years, on Monday hailed PM Narendra Modi for the befitting reply to Pakistan by the Indian Air Force following the Pulwama terror attack. When PM Modi reached the venue of an event organised by the Kadva Patel community in the outskirts of Ahmedabad, the crowd of 70,000 people greeted him with cheers.
The Prime Minister was here to lay the foundation stone for Vishv Umiya Foundation, a social hub of Kadva Patel community. The hub will be spread across 65 acres of land at Jaspur village near the city.
Speaking at the gathering, PM Modi said, "Action with slow motion cannot work in this nation. Incomplete tasks and smaller things are not acceptable. Whatever you have to do, has to be on a larger scale. Don't you think this is happening now?"
Making jibes at the opposition, he said: "There is a set of people who think that spiritual activity is not in the interest of society. The motivational force of our saints, sages and seers has come through spiritualism. The spiritual heritage and awareness have brought timely changes to our nation. Ignorance towards spiritualism hindered centralisation of strength of crores of people. But fortunately, today, some social reformers have come forward in India."
The project of Vishv Umiya Foundation includes a temple of community's goddess Umiya (Uma) Mata, hostel for students, a skill development institute, a university, an NRI centre, a convention and recreation centre, a hospital and many more.
The coordinator of Vishv Umiya Foundation CK Patel exhibited his political ambition during the event. He said from the dais that PM Modi had praised him as a pious man in the past. Patel is the aspirant of a ticket for the forthcoming LS polls and wishes to contest from the Sabarkantha seat. Earlier, he had lost the assembly polls on Congress' ticket from the Himmatnagar seat against BJP's Praful Khoda Patel.
Mismanagement by organisers of the event harassed people a lot, especially the elderly, women and children. The venue was 4 kms away from the road and people had to reach there walking. They reached five to six hours before the schedule of the event. On reaching there, they did not find any food and water.
