This year, the auspicious festival of Sharad Nav-ratri (festival of nine nights) commences on October 10th and people from across the nation are gearing up to revel in the festivities with grand vigour and tradition. The festival, that is dedicated to the nine avatars of Hindu Goddess Durga; lasts for nine nights, ten days and sees devotees performing pujas in the morning and enjoying traditional dance forms such as dandiya by the night.

There are in total nine colours that are assigned for each day. Starting from October 10, people will be seen adorning idols with specific coloured clothes. A few devotees also wear clothing of the same colour every day in honour of the goddess. The first day of Navratri is dedicated to the worshipping of Maa Shailputri and Maa Brahmacharini.

The colour Royal Blue has been chosen to signify the calmness, wisdom and strength of the goddess. Allow our Bollywood beauties Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and others to show you how to drape the colour in style.
