It's been almost two decades since Kareena Kapoor Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Rani Mukerji starrer 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' hit theatres. But do you remember child actor Barkha Singh, who played young Kareena in the film?
Well, of course, she is all grown up now and is very much a part of the showbiz world.
A model-turned-actor and YouTuber, Barkha, who has been part of several projects, the most recent being Zee5's 'Silence...Can You Hear It?', and has carved a niche for herself in the entertainment industry as well well on the social media world, recently opened up about auditioning for the role of Tina and surprisingly, still being addressed and remembered as young Kareena.

1. Barkha Singh: Child actor in 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge'

Barkha Singh, in a recent interview, revealed that the process of bagging the role for young Kareena Kapoor Khan in the film 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' wasn't easy and she was picked among 600 to 700 children. She added that there were five audition rounds. "I do remember giving the audition for that role and it was a tough process. There were about 600-700 kids who auditioned for the role of young Tina, and I was there pretty chill after school, just in an attempt to make my mother buy me ice cream on the way. It just happened that I got it but I did give five rounds of auditions for that. People sometimes still do remember it and especially one phrase, where we go like, "Tina… Pooja". That kind of got stuck with the people, but thankfully now people recognise me for my more recent work," Barkha told SpotboyE.

When asked if people still refer to her as young Kareena, she said, "A lot of times people still do refer to me as young Kareena and it's surprising that people actually remember that. They even say that my face is still the same, although I don't know whether to take it as a compliment."

Barkha said that she performed as a child actor just as a hobby and that is the reason why she wasn't part of numerous projects or long-running TV shows. She added that it kind of helped her in the long run. "I hadn't done that much of films or long-running TV shows. What I did was more like a summer vacation. Like Mujhse Dosti Karoge happened in the summer break between my third and fourth standard. I was like let's go to Switzerland and Manali and meet Hrithik, Kareena and Rani,” she said while adding, "I loved performing but it was never professionally done by me. I had no expectations to come back to, like oh I was a famous child actor and I need to be famous again. Most of the industry didn’t even remember me as my child acting stint wasn't a long-running one that I had to keep my studies aside to pursue that."

Although Barkha took up acting as a hobby when she was a child and was not involved in numerous projects, she did find her way back into acting as a profession when she grew up. The actor said that though she returned to the industry, she did not reach out to the people she previously worked with and it was a "cean late" for her. "I started from the ground level up," she told SpotboyE.
