The two leads of Desi Boyz- Akshay Kumar and John Abraham reunited six years after their first hit Garam Masala (2005). After Desi Boyz, they were seen in Housefull 2, which was a blockbuster.

As per the media reports, Sonam Kapoor was first approached to star opposite John. However, she rejected the film, and then the role was offered to Anushka Sharma. Even Anushka rejected the film, and then Chitrangda was roped in.

Desi Boyz was released in cinemas on November 25, 2011, and earned mixed reviews from critics. Made in a reported budget of Rs 65 crores, the film grossed Rs 77 crores worldwide. As per Sacnilk and Box Office India, the film was termed 'Flop' at the box office.
5. Sequel to Desi Boyz?
Despite Desi Boyz's failure at the box office, a sequel to the film was announced in 2023. Producer Anand Pandit announced that he's making Desi Boyz 2 with a new cast.
