Filmmaker Karan Johar was recently seen at the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne, where he kickstarted the event at a press conference and later attended an interview and discussion about his latest movie. The chat on 10th August delved into the history of Karan's journey as a director and his cinematic development so far. A video clip of the interview was posted on the Instagram Handle of Indian Film Festival Melbourne, where Karan was asked if Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was his best film so far.

Karan Johar had a very diplomatic answer to this and said, "You know each one of my films was made with a different source, I don't know how to rate it. That the audience would know how to rate my films in what they think my filmography is." The director implies that every film of his had a different edge and was made in a different time, therefore he leaves the ball in the audience's court.

He also explains the tremendous contrast between his old and new films. While his first few films had constricted views of gender norms, his new one stands apart. He says, "I look at some of my previous work and a lot of times I'm embarrassed because a lot of it is cringe. Specifically, the gender politics of my first film are very different from the gender politics of Rocky Aur Rani. My gender politics was totally wrong in my first film"

The filmmaker further added that the contrast indicates growth and maturity in the content he made as a director. His directional debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, an all-time favourite and his latest film Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani differ in a lot of aspects, especially gender politics and Karan Johar believes that the difference in those films indicates that he has evolved in his art. The director concludes by saying that he hopes his latest film will create an impact and stay in the hearts of the audience.

The caption of the video reads, "Karan Johar sums up his 25-year journey as a filmmaker as he talks about the things that have changed from his first film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to his latest Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani." The filmmaker was seen at the IFFM along with other stars like Kartik Aaryan and Rani Mukherji. The event was followed by a Question and Answer round with the fans too.

Karan Johar is currently enjoying the success of his latest release Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and is gearing up for the release of his upcoming production Yodha starring Sidharth Malhotra and Disha Patani. The movie is scheduled to clash with Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi's Merry Christmas on December 15.
