At the age of 16, the actress started modeling. She won the title at Femina Miss India 2001 and two years later she made her film debut in Feroz Khan's Janasheen.

In her career span of 9 years, Celina Jaitly starred in several hit films like No Entry, Golmaal Returns, and Apna Sapna Money Money, however, all of these were multi-starrer. The actress gave a total of 13 flops and no single hit in 9 years. Her last film was Will You Marry Me? Wherein she had a cameo.

The actress got married to an Austrian entrepreneur and hotelier Peter Haag and later in 2012, They became parents to twin boys born in March 2012. The couple welcomed their second set of twins in 2017, however, one of the baby died due to a heart defect. The actress made her comeback in 2020 with the film Season’s Greetings and talking about her long hiatus, she said, “When Mom and Dad passed away I went into severe depression. My parents always wanted me to get back to acting, But I was always reluctant to get back owing to personal issues. I wasn't ready at that point. The reason why I shot this film was that it was my mom's last wish. She wanted me to go back to the cinema. I told Ram Kamal sir that I am still battling depression. He was very very supportive of me and my health. In fact, I am glad I shot the film it gave me a lot more confidence and I was so involved with work that I didn't think about anything else. This film helped me a lot in many ways Season's Greeting is an ode to my parents and Rituparno Ghosh too as I wanted to work with him.”
