Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan might have opened to a bumper response in India, but the film couldn't see the day of the light in Bangladesh. As ETimes reported, Jawan which was originally slated for simultaneous release with worldwide premiere on September 7, couldn't release in Bangladesh, as the censor board did not clear the film for the release.

Another few media reports stated that only a limited number of Indian films are allowed to be released in Bangladesh after getting a clearance from the country's censor board. Also, the movies cleared from censor release later in the county than its actual premiere date. Shah Rukh Khan's previous movie, Pathaan, the Republic Day mega-release got its theatrical release in Bangladesh on May 2023.

However, with Jawan, the film was slated to hit the Bangladesh theatres on the same day as its world premiere date, and it would have been the first for an Indian film in the neighbouring country. The spokesperson for Action Cut Entertainment, Anonno Mamun, had previously confirmed that Jawan would grace Bangladeshi screens on the same day as its worldwide debut.

The unexpected delay in its release has also prompted potential protests in the country as voiced by Bangladeshi filmmaker Delwar Jahan Jhantu. When the Pathaan release was stalled in Bangladesh, Shah Rukh Khan assured his Bangladeshi fans that Jawan would be released at the same time. However, with this hurdle, it will be interesting to see if the actor-producer will step forward to resolve the release issue.

Filmmaker Delwar Jahan Jhantu has openly expressed his opposition and discontent with Hindi cinema getting access to Bangladeshi markets. As per a report by ETimes, he openly questioned the fairness of allowing two films to secure a release date in the same week while restricting others. He was quoted by the portal, "If the ministry somehow allows it, we will take to the streets. There is no way but to protest." As of now, there is uncertainty about Jawan's release in Bangladesh.
