Shoojit Sircar impressed with Banita Sandhu’s hard work in October

Banita Sandhu, who had previously charmed us with her lively expressions in a mint commercial helmed by Shoojit Sircar, was instantly identified by him for the character of Shiuli in his upcoming film, October. The director says, “I wanted a girl who looked like Shiuli — a little South Indian and also whose eyes would speak a lot.”

In the film, she plays a hotel management student who shares a complex yet charismatic relationship with her fellow-student Dan, essayed by Varun Dhawan. With her earnest performance, the debutante has already got the movie’s team applauding her hard work. As Shoojit says, “The most hard work done by someone in the film is actually this girl, Banita.”

Lead actor Varun says, “Banita is a selfless actress and so giving in scenes. The kind of work she has put in for her first film is unbelievable.” The movie’s producer, Ronnie Lahiri, adds, “It’s a very important role.
