Sushmita Sen recently impressed the audience with her performance as a transgender social activist Gauri Sawant in her latest web series Taali. The actress often shares her bold views with the audience and recently, the actress recalled facing the repercussions of her ‘bindass’ attitude in the 90s.

In a recent interview with Film Companion, when asked if she ever had to face repercussions of her ‘bindaas’ attitude, Sushmita Sen said, “There were (repercussions). In the 90s… because back then it was a much more closeted society so for you to speak your mind and to say anything that you believed in was like… she is a bad influence, don’t get her in front of our kids and everyone else.” 

She added, “I don’t blame them. I was very loud and clear. I thought if you take away my freedom to express myself, what freedom do I really have? So am I going to scare away from speaking my mind or am I just going to learn how to say it better, say it nicer? Which I did learn because I think I didn’t have that tact before.” 

Sushmita Sen also shared if the situation has changed since the 90s and said: “the world is far more accepting now.” She also added that though there is a “haw (oh my god” element in society, the situation has still improved. 

Helmed by Ravi Jadhav, Taali is a web series starring Sushmita Sen as transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant. The series also stars Ankur Bhatia, Krutika Deo, Aishwarya Narkar, Suvrat Joshi, and Meenakshi Chugh among others in key roles. The actress' performance is being widely appreciated.

Meanwhile, Sushmita Sen will be next seen in the web series Aarya season 3 for which she is training Kalaripayattu. The actress intrigued the fans by sharing the practice session on Instagram. Aarya has been created by Ram Madhvani and Sandeep Modi in association with Vinod Rawat. Bankrolled by the banner Ram Madhvani Films, and Endemol Shine Group, the venture also stars Viren Vazirani, Jayant Kripalani, Ankut Bhatia, and Vikas Kumar.
