The makers of The Tashkent Files have not only unveiled the first poster of their film but also raised questions on former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri's death
Vivek Agnihotri, in association with Zee Studios, has unveiled the first poster of his upcoming film The Tashkent Files. The movie raises questions about former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri's mysterious death. Shastri died right after India defeated Pakistan in the Indo-Pak war of 1965. The military conflict took place between April 1965 and September 1965. The conflict began post Pakistan's Operation Gibraltar whose aim was to cause insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir.
Questioning Lal Bahadur Shastri's mysterious death with the first poster, Zee Studios tweeted, "The man you know… The mystery you don’t! #TheTashkentFiles Releasing on 12th April 2019. #MithunChakraborty #NaseeruddinShah @shweta_official @TripathiiPankaj @pathakvinay @mandybedi #PallaviJoshi @ratheeofficial @ZeeStudios_ @vivekagnihotri #LalBahadurShastri #WhoKilledShastri"

Vivek Agnihotri had previously told PTI, "On January 10, 1966, Shastri had signed the Tashkent Agreement... and hours later he died. A death mystery unsolved till date. Was it a heart attack or poison? The truth of the biggest coverup has been denied to his family and us."
The filmmaker said that he made this film after many people including top political leaders such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and George Fernandes had expressed the need for dealing with the mystery behind Lal Bahadur Shastri’s death.
Vivek added that the Prime Minister in power then Gulzarilal Nanda did not hear the family's appeals or take any action against it. "The family also had requested former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, but was not heeded to once again," he added.
Raising some serious questions, Vivek asked, "This issue has been raised in Parliament for the last 50 years and yet, we are trying to find out the truth. I picked up the gauntlet and tried finding the truth, and hence I filed RTIs, but I was shattered. The RTI said there is no information. Our beloved second prime minister dies and the biggest democracy in the world does not have any information and documents."
Written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, produced by Pranay Chokshi, Haresh Patel, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek, the movie is slated to release on 12th April. Co-incidentally, PM Narendra Modi, the biopic on India's current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was slated to release on 12th April but has been postponed to 5th April release.
