Before making his acting debut in Ishq Vishk in 2003, Shahid Kapoor appeared as a background dancer in Dil To Pagal Hai and Taal. Born to actors Pankaj Kapur and Neliima Azeem, Shahid was just 22 at the time of Ishq Vishk's release and was striving for perfection in his first film. He even got one of his interviews during the film's promotion re-recorded because he didn't like the way he sounded.

In a chat with YouTube channel Shaardulogy, former film journalist Rajeev Masand recalled the entire incident. He said, "I remember a long time ago we interviewed Shahid Kapoor for the first time. It was a long interview of about an hour or maybe 35 minutes. And even for Shahid, it was one of his first interviews. It was around the time of his first film Ishq Vishq. He asked me if he could watch the interview and he watched it. After watching it, he said 'I don’t like the way I sound, can we do it again?' I was like, 'Hain? (What?)' and we did it all over again."

Masand went on to defend the Jab We Met actor as he continued, "But there was a pursuit of excellence, some perfection. You know, when someone is trying something new, when someone is saying, ‘Let’s not do this, let's do this.' In Shahid’s case, I understand, it was his first interview. If he thought his voice was not good, it’s the first time people are going to see you, I understand it."

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shahid Kapoor was last seen in the romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which starred Kriti Sanon as the leading lady. The film became a commercial success as it earned Rs 85.16 crore net in India and grossed Rs 139 crore worldwide.

The actor will be seen next in the action thriller Deva, which marks director Rosshan Andrrews' Bollywood debut after making several award-winning Malayalam films. Also starring Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati, the film was initially slated to release on October 11 this year on the occasion of Dussehra, but now has been postponed to February 14, 2025, on the occasion of Valentine's Day.
