Isha Ambani led firm gets Rs 8278 crore from QIA, allots 6.86 crore shares

Isha Ambani led Reliance Retail is among the top 10 most visited retailers in the world and the only Indian retailer in the global top 100 list. As the subsidiary of Reliance Industries heads of rumoured IPO, it has started to sell stakes as its valuation is considered to be too big for the market to absorb. Recently, Qatar Investment Authority agreed to acquire 0.99% stake in the frim at the valuation of Rs 8.2 lakh crore. Few weeks after the deal, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries has now revealed that it has received promised Rs 8278 crore from Qatar Investment Authority. As per the deal, QIA has been allotted 6.86 crore equity shares in Reliance Retail.

"Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd today received the subscription amount of Rs 8,278 crore from Qatar Holding LLC (QIA) and allotted 6,86,35,010 equity shares to QIA," said RIL in regulatory filing.

Reliance Retail’s valuation has doubled in the last 3 years. Mukesh Ambani named Isha Ambani as new leader of Reliance Retail in August 2022 and since then the company has been aggressive with the expansion. Over the past few years, Reliance Retail has attracted investments from large and reputable global investment firms and sovereign wealth funds

Jimmy Choo, Georgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Versace, Michael Kors, Brooks Brothers, Armani Exchange, Burberry and many other global brands are available in India as a Reliance Retail partner brand. The company invested Rs 82,646 crore in the last 2 years. After all the acquisitions and investments, the current store count of Reliance Retail stands at Rs 18,040.
