It is way too early to judge the concrete impact on the rupee and on other variables of China's pledge to let the yuan appreciate gradually, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) deputy governor Subir Gokarn said on Monday.

He said a sense of reassurance has set in post the yuan pledge and one should not be worried about the short-term volatility of the rupee post the pledge.

China's central bank said late on Saturday it was ready to make the yuan more flexible, signalling it was ready to scrap its 23-month-old currency peg, citing a global economic recovery and more balanced external trade.
