India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 Highlights: Follow Highlights of IND vs PAK match here.
Rain once again disrupted the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan, forcing the match to be called off. The game will resume on Monday, which serves as the reserve day, and both teams will compete in a 50-over contest.
In the initial stages of the match, Shubman Gill showcased his brilliance by surpassing his second consecutive ODI half-century. Alongside Rohit Sharma, they effortlessly neutralized the formidable Pakistani pace attack for the majority of the first 20 overs. After winning the toss, Babar Azam opted to bowl first, but Gill and Sharma's opening partnership soared past 100 runs within just 14 overs. Gill achieved his fifty in a mere 37 balls, while Sharma swiftly followed suit, reaching the milestone in 42 balls with a powerful six.
However, Pakistan made a strong comeback as Shadab and Afridi dismissed Sharma and Gill respectively in consecutive games. This turn of events brought Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to the crease, with Rahul replacing the injured Shreyas Iyer at No.4. The duo had just started building a promising partnership, contributing 24 runs off 38 balls for the third wicket, when heavy rain abruptly interrupted the game, forcing the players to leave the field. At that point, India's score stood at 147/2 in 24.1 overs.

Should this deadline be reached, India will not have the opportunity to bat again in this innings, and Pakistan will be assigned a DLS revised target.
The majority of the covers have been removed at this time. However, there is still a lingering concern regarding the damp patch near mid-wicket. Unfortunately, there is no update available regarding a potential restart.

Pakistan (Playing XI): Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam(c), Mohammad Rizwan(w), Agha Salman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf
India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan(w), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
Babar Azam: We will bowl first. I think there is a bit of moisture, we need to use that. Always, India Pakistan is high intensity, but we will take it match to match. As a team, we are playing well, we are focused on this one. No changes.
Rohit Sharma: Looking to bat first. There will be a challenge upfront, but the way we guys batted last time around gives us confidence. Every game is important for us, but one thing at a time to focus on. That's the nature of the sport, it gave us good time to prepare and now we'll look to play well.

Despite Rahul's return and his reported good performance in the nets, Kishan is likely to retain his position in the team due to his outstanding knock of 82 runs against Pakistan in the opening match. Moreover, there are concerns about Rahul's ability to keep wickets for the entire 50 overs due to a groin niggle he acquired during his recovery from the initial injury. Consequently, Kishan might be the preferred choice over Rahul for this match.
Bumrah, who had returned to India for the birth of his child following the Pakistan match, has now rejoined the team after missing the match against Nepal. His seamless integration into the team is highly anticipated. However, this also means that India will have to make a tough decision between Mohammad Shami and Shardul Thakur. In the previous match against Pakistan, the team had chosen Thakur over Shami due to his all-rounder skills, but unfortunately, Thakur did not make a significant contribution with the bat.
The pitch at Colombo is expected to be the slowest and most spin-friendly in the tournament thus far. It will undoubtedly offer advantages to the bowlers, especially after enduring the challenges of being covered. In the previous ODI held here, scoring runs was a daunting task. Pakistan's total of 268 in the first innings proved to be more than sufficient, as the spinners claimed six out of the ten wickets that Afghanistan lost.
