Rain once again disrupted the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan, forcing the match to be called off. The game will resume on Monday, which serves as the reserve day, and both teams will compete in a 50-over contest.
In the initial stages of the match, Shubman Gill showcased his brilliance by surpassing his second consecutive ODI half-century. Alongside Rohit Sharma, they effortlessly neutralized the formidable Pakistani pace attack for the majority of the first 20 overs. After winning the toss, Babar Azam opted to bowl first, but Gill and Sharma's opening partnership soared past 100 runs within just 14 overs. Gill achieved his fifty in a mere 37 balls, while Sharma swiftly followed suit, reaching the milestone in 42 balls with a powerful six.
However, Pakistan made a strong comeback as Shadab and Afridi dismissed Sharma and Gill respectively in consecutive games. This turn of events brought Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to the crease, with Rahul replacing the injured Shreyas Iyer at No.4. The duo had just started building a promising partnership, contributing 24 runs off 38 balls for the third wicket, when heavy rain abruptly interrupted the game, forcing the players to leave the field. At that point, India's score stood at 147/2 in 24.1 overs.
