In Pics: From Shami to Vihari, from hand to hamstring - India's injury woes Down Under

Speedster Mohammed Shami was the first casualty. Shami was hit by a Pat Cummins short ball on his arm. He was in serious pain after the blow and tried hard to continue to bat but was finding very hard to. In the end, he had to retire out and India were bowled out for their lowest score ever in Test matches, on 36 in an abbraition.

Another right-arm pacer, Umesh Yadav also suffered an injury during the match. In the Boxing Day Test, Umesh Yadav sprained his calf during India's second bowling innings. Batsman KL Rahul, who was recalled into the Test side after two years, didn't get a chance in the playing XI in the first two games. But, the opening batsman injured himself in the nets after getting hit in his left wrist. Another casualty of in-match injury was all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja dealt a blow on his thumb while trying to negotiate a Mitchell Starc bouncer. Jadeja, after batting for sometime, didn't take the field. The scans revealed a dislocation and he was ruled out of the series and for next 6 weeks. Hanuma Vihari also suffered an injury during his marathon knock at the SCG. Vihari suffered a hamstring injury in an attempt to take a quick run. After receiving treatment, he was able to stand his ground, but couldn't run and was using his bat as a walking stick. The reports later said that he was playing with a Grade 2 tear, but him just standing up in the middle helped India salvage a draw. (Image: BCCI/Getty Australia)

Jasprit Bumrah was the latest casualty. On Tuesday morning, Bumrah was also all but ruled out of the series due to an abdominal strain which he suffered during the game.
