1.Great Selection
In hindsight, England had won half the battle before the match started. They brought in Sam Curran and Moeen Ali in the team for this match. They will prove to be the match winners for them. (Image: Reuters)
2.Sam Curran's stand
England were 86/6 in their first innings when Sam Curran walked into the middle. India's seamers were on top and India looked set to take the upperhand. However, Curran and Moeen Ali added 81 runs for the seventh wicket. Even after Ali's wicket, Curran kept adding runs for his side. England added 69 invaluable runs for the last two wickets with Curran doing the bulk of the scoring. (Image: Reuters)
3.Virat Kohli's loose shot
India were on top during their first innings with Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara looking solid in the middle. However, Kohli then decided to stab at ball from Curran (him again) a liitle unnecessarily with hard hands. Alastair Cook took a good catch and Kohli was on his way just short of a half-century. 4.Moeen Ali Part 1
Moeen Ali, on his comeback, had already proved his worth with a 40 – but his best came when he caused the India middle order to collapse like a deck of cards. Ali's spell ended India's dream of a big lead in the first innings and even had them in danger of finishing behind England in before some gutsy batting by Pujara, Ishant and Bumrah. Still, it meant India only had slender lead. (Image: Reuters)
5.Buttler and Stokes
Indian bowler did a good job again when they had four down for just 92 runs. But Ben Stokes played admirable caution while Jos Buttler batted with controlled agression to arrest the slide and put England in a better position. (Image: Reuters)
6.That Curran guy again
When Sam Curran (yes, him again)arrived at the crease in the second innings, England's lead stood at 151 runs with just four more wickets in hand. Following Buttler's dismissal, Curran took centerstage and helped add 38 priceless runs for the last three wickets. (Image: Reuters)
7.Top 3 fail again
India's top three failed yet again in a chase with James Anderson and Stuart Broad joining the party. India were put under pressure and it all fell to Virat Kohli again. (Image: Reuters)
8.Kohli falls in a trap
Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane steadily chipping away at the lead. Ali was bowling and England fielders surrounded the Indian captain. Suddenly a ball flicked Kohli's glove, then pad, before lobbing straight to Cook. Kohli called for a review but it was not not to be. The match almost in England's pocket. (Image: Reuters)
9.Moeen Ali Part 2
Ali continued his destruction of India's lower middle order in the second innings too. He added four wickets to his five in the first innings. He sent back Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant as India lost the plot. (Image: Reuters)
10.Curran does the honours
It was quite fitting that Sam Curran picked the final wicket to seal an unassailable 3-1 lead for England. (Image: Reuters)
