IND vs SL: Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli achieve massive milestones; Sanju Samson breaks unique record

Jasprit Bumrah has gone past Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal to become the leading wicket-taker for India in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

He dismissed Danushka Gunathilaka in the first over of Sri Lanka's chase of 202 to take his wickets tally to 53 in the shortest format. 

Before the start of the third T20I, all three bowlers were tied on 52 wickets. While Chahal can still give a tough competition to Bumrah, Ashwin last played a T20I against the West Indies back in 2017.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to congratulate the fast-bowler.

"BOOOM. Jasprit Bumrah is now the leading wicket-taker in T20Is for #TeamIndia," BCCI tweeted.

As India went on to win against Sri Lanka, the Men in Blue skipper achieved another milestone. He became the quickest to reach 11,000 international runs as a captain.

He was just a run short from the feat and the right-hander took a single off Lakshan Sandakan to get to the feat.

Kohli now becomes the sixth international captain to reach the feat and the second Indian after talismanic Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

He even surpassed Ricky Ponting to achieve this milestone. Kohli is now followed by Ponting, Graeme Smith, Dhoni, Allan Border and Stephen Fleming.

While other players were achieving milestones, wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson breaks a unique record of missing most T20Is between two appearances.

The player was taken in place of Rishabh Pant to play against Sri Lanka.

Samson has over 3000 runs in T20s but has only one international appearance - his debut against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2015.

In between his two appearances, India played 73 T20Is - which is the most number of matches between appearances for an Indian player in the shortest format, IANS reported.

The record was previously held by Umesh Yadav, who did not play a T20I between 2012 and 2015 in which time India had played 65 T20Is.

India have won 12 out of the 18 T20Is they played against Sri Lanka. This is the most wins in T20I cricket for India against an opposition. 

The hosts have also won 9 T20I matches out of last 10 played against the Islanders.

The Indian side have also won each of their last 11 bilateral series against Sri Lanka. This streak began in 2012

The visitors have a win-loss ratio of 0.3 in the T20I cricket on Indian soil - and this is the 3rd worst W/L ratio for any team in this format in any country for a minimum of 10 T20Is played.
