Sourav Ganguly admitted to hospital in Kolkata after 'mild cardiac arrest', condition stable

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has been admitted to hospital after complaining of chest pains on Saturday. According to some media reports, an angioplasty is currently been performed on the current BCCI president. According to one prominent journalist close to the BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly had felt dizzy when he was in the gym and he went to Woodlands to get the Tests done. That’s when it came to light that there was a cardiac issue and the hospital has now created a 3 member board with Dr. Saroj Mondal who will perform the procedure. However, he was quick to point out that Sourav Ganguly is not in danger and will make a recovery in the next couple of hours. The latest update was that Sourav Ganguly had a heart issue and was in a stable condition. The former India captain will need a procedure to ensure he is normal, according to hospital sources. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and BCCI secretary Jay Shah all tweeted for the speedy recovery of Sourav Ganguly.

Sourav Ganguly had recently attended the 89th AGM of the BCCI which was held in Motera, Ahmedabad. In that meeting, the major decision that came out was that there would be 10 teams in the Indian Premier League in 2022. Recently, former India cricket legend Kapil Dev was also admitted to hospital as he complained of chest pain in Delhi. However, the 1983 World Cup winning captain made a full recovery.

Ganguly an Indian captain par excellence

Sourav Ganguly made his international debut in 1992 against Australia but he made a mark four years later in 1996 when he scored a century on Test debut against England in Lord's. From that point in time, Sourav Ganguly became one of the mainstays of the Indian cricket team

Sourav Ganguly took over the reigns of the Indian cricket team in 2001 and he is best remembered for stalling the mighty Australian's march to dominance as he denied them their 17th consecutive win with a memorable win at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Under Sourav Ganguly's captaincy, India changed their fortunes and they no longer were termed "Lambs abroad and Tigers at home". India won a Test in England after 16 years and a Test in Australia after 22 years. Under Sourav Ganguly's captaincy, following draws in England and Australia, Sourav Ganguly helped India win a series in Pakistan for the first time.

In ODIs, Sourav Ganguly formed a formidable opening partnership with Sachin Tendulkar as the duo tore apart bowling attacks all over the world. Sourav Ganguly helped India reach the final of the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup in South Africa but they lost by 125 runs in the final to Australia.
