Former Indian wicketkeeper, Kiran More, expressed his delight at witnessing Rinku Singh's international debut for India in the first T20I against Ireland in Dublin on Friday, August 18.

Rinku showcased his exceptional finishing skills for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the IPL 2023 season, amassing an impressive 474 runs at a striking rate of nearly 150. More firmly believes that this left-handed batsman has the potential to establish himself as a vital player in the middle order, following in the footsteps of legendary cricketers such as Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni.

“I have been waiting for his opportunity in the Indian team. And that batting position, of No.5 and 6, he will perform well in that spot and can end up being a brilliant finisher. We all have seen MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. After that, we haven’t got a player like them. Rinku is also a brilliant fielder. And I have seen him in domestic cricket as well, he has improved a lot I feel," Kiran More said while speaking on Jio cinema.

Abhishek Nayar, a prominent figure in the discussion, expressed his agreement with More regarding Rinku Singh's potential as a crucial asset in India's future middle order. Nayar, who has collaborated with Rinku for six years at KKR, firmly believes that Rinku's inclusion could grant Captain Hardik Pandya the liberty to bat in a higher position in the lineup.

"With Hardik Pandya transforming into a role of a batter and playing higher up the order, you need someone down the order who can finish off the job for you. You did have someone like Axar Patel for it, but Rinku is tailor-made. That is why the outlook towards Rinku should be the same as we are looking towards Tilak," Nayar said.

Rinku Singh did not get the opportunity to bat in the first T20I. However, he is eager to demonstrate his batting skills in India's upcoming game on Sunday.
