IPL 2021 was suspended on May 4 due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in bio-bubble during the deadly second wave in India.
BCCI has decided to move the remaining matches of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in September-October because of the 'monsoon'. The decision was taken in the BCCI SGM held virtually on Saturday and members unanimously agreed to resume the 14th edition of the IPL.
The BCCI in a release said, "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced to complete the remaining matches of VIVO Indian Premier League 2021 season in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) considering the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October this year."
The BCCI has also asked for the extension of time from the ICC to take a decision on hosting the ICC T20World Cup 2021, due to be held in India in October-November.
The reason of the monsoon was bizarre as most of the Twitter users felt that since the regular season was postponed due to the rise in the COVID-19 cases in India and the country itself is going through a deadly second wave, they should have mentioned the actual reason.
Many users also reacted with hilarious memes, while one used a famous Pakistan bald guy reaction meme, another one said that COVID-19 and black fungus should be offended after the destruction they have caused in country and still they are not becoming the reason for postponements or shifting of events.
Here are some of the reactions:
They are moving the IPL to UAE because of monsoon in India?

BCCI is saying they have moved IPL due to monsoon season and not due to Covid19. Corona and black fungus should be offended. https://t.co/wna9G6uPhP

Reason BCCI shifting IPL to UAE because they fear monsoon season in India in the months September - October
