Former Team India cricketer Gautam Gambhir is reported trying to buy stakes in Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, Delhi Capitals.

During his time in the IPL, Gambhir played for two franchises in Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils.

According to the reports, the former KKR skipper has already had talks with the GMR group, the 50% shareholders of the capital franchise, over co-ownership.

As per the reports of TOI, the negotiations between Gambhir and the GMR group went really well and all that is left is the final clearance from the IPL governing council before the deal is closed.

The BJP politician allegedly proposed to buy 10% stakes, costing him a total of Rs 100 crore.

When the JSW group bought 50% stake last year for Rs 550 crore, they renamed the franchise name from Delhi Daredevils to Dehli Capitals which finished third during the 12th edition of IPL.

Once the total agreement has been signed, a formal announcement will be made involving both parties.

“The matter has been discussed for the last few months and it is only a matter of days,” the source said.
