IND vs SL: Gautam Gambhir wins his first match as coach as India beat Sri Lanka by 43 runs, lead series 1-0

Pathum Nissanka's outstanding performance was overshadowed by a lack of support from other batters, resulting in India taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The match took place on Saturday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

India's strong batting lineup, led by skipper Suryakumar Yadav, along with contributions from Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal, propelled them to a total of 213/7 in 20 overs. Matheesha Pathirana stood out as the top bowler for Sri Lanka, taking four wickets. Charith Asalanka's decision to put India in to bat first proved to be a challenging one for Sri Lanka.

It is worth noting that this was India's first match under the leadership of head coach Gautam Gambhir. The second T20I is set to take place on Sunday at 7:00 PM at the same venue.
