Excitingly, both teams will be led by new head coaches, with Sanath Jayasuriya taking the helm as the interim head coach for Sri Lanka, and Gautam Gambhir stepping in as India's new head coach. This marks Gambhir's first assignment following Rahul Dravid's successful tenure, which culminated in India's T20 World Cup victory.
The last bilateral white-ball series between India and Sri Lanka occurred in July 2021, with Dravid serving as the stand-in coach and Shikhar Dhawan captaining the team. India emerged victorious in the ODI series with a 2-1 scoreline, while Sri Lanka claimed the T20Is by the same margin.
After their triumphant T20 World Cup campaign, this series will serve as India's second T20I challenge
