With the official auction just days away, the hype for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 is well and truly underway with all the eight teams officially announcing their retained and released players ahead of the upcoming season.

The Delhi franchise always had star players in their team but nun of them performed to their full potential in the past season. 

Ahead of the scheduled auction in Kolkata on December 19, the players who have been retained back by the teams, will not be taking part in the mega player auction. 

Delhi Capitals decided to retain 12 players and released as many as 9 players from their last year's squad. 

Skipper Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Lamichhane, Kagiso Rabada, Keemo Paul, Axar Patel and Harshal Patel have all been retained by DC.

However, Hanuma Vihari, Jalaj Saxena, Manjot Kalra, Ankush Bains, Nathu Singh, Bandaru Ayappa, Chris Morris, Colin Ingram and Colin Munro have been released by Delhi.

DC also traded in veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin from Kings XI Punjab for INR 1.5 crore and left-arm spinner Jagadeesha Suchith.

Rajasthan Royals skipper in the previous season Ajinkya Rahane also has been traded in by DC in return of Mayank Markande and Rahul Tewatia.

New Zealand star pacer Trent Boult was also traded to Mumbai Indians ahead of the auction day.
