India showcased their best performance in Guyana, securing a victory over defending champions England in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final. This impressive win has earned India a spot in the final, where they will go head-to-head against South Africa.

In addition to the team's success, Rohit Sharma made history by becoming the most successful T20I captain with 49 wins, surpassing Pakistan's Babar Azam who held the previous record of 48 wins. This victory also extended India's winning streak to 11 matches, marking their second-longest streak in T20Is. The team's previous best streak was 12 wins between November 2021 and February 2022. South Africa currently holds the record for the most wins in a single T20 World Cup edition with 8 wins, while India follows closely behind with 7 wins.

During the rain-affected match, India won the toss and chose to bat. Rohit Sharma's impressive half-century (57 off 39 balls) helped India reach a total of 171/7 in 20 overs, setting a target of 172 runs for England. Chris Jordan was the standout performer for England, taking three wickets.

In response, England struggled to chase the target and were bowled out for 103 runs in 16.4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel were the heroes for India, taking three wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah contributed with two dismissals.
