Noida news: Underpass to be constructed near Gaur City to ease traffic jams; check route, timeline, cost and more

Traffic jams in Noida will reduce soon as the Greater Noida authority is planning to construct an underpass near Gaur Chowk junction. One official told HT that the project is expected to be finished in 18 months at a cost Rs 81.27 crore.

A team from Greater Noida and Noida traffic police inspected the project site to identify the pre-project tasks.

A report stated that the underpass will be constructed on the Taj Highway that will connect Greater Noida to Gaur City and then Delhi-Meerut Expressway. The underpass will also converge with the upcoming Greater Noida West line of the Noida Metro.

While talking to HT, Rajesh Gautam, senior manager, Greater Noida authority, said, “This will be developed in 18 months. The project cost is ₹81.27 crore. We have conducted an inspection of the project site. Before we begin work, we need to shift away encroachments and electric poles, trees, cables, drains, etc. We also need to make service lanes to facilitate traffic movement as the existing road will be dug up for a while.” 

Abhishek Kumar, president of the Noida Extension Flat Owner Welfare Association (NEFOWA), asserted that after the Parthala flyover opened last June, traffic jams diverted from the intersection to Gaur Chowk.

Talking about the need of the underpass, Rajesh Singh, a resident of Greater Noida West said it will end the traffic congestion at Gaur Chowk.
