Delhi: Bahadurgarh-Mundka Metro's Green line to begin operations from today

The satellite town of Haryana will be connected with Delhi from Sunday as the Bahadurgarh-Mundka corridor of Metro's Green Line starts its commercial operations from 4 pm. This will be the third line connecting the neighbouring state of Haryana with the national capital, the other two being Yellow and Violet Line, connecting Gurugram and Faridabad respectively.

After the recently launched Magenta Line, the new entirely elevated section too will ease connectivity of peripheral areas of Delhi. The 11.83-kilometre long route will not only connect the Capital with Bahadurgarh but also connect outer Delhi areas of the western fringes such as Mundka, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan etc. With the opening of this section, the Delhi Metro network will expand to 288 kilometres with 208 Metro stations. Haryana already has over 21 kilometres of Delhi Metro lines. With this section, the Delhi Metro section in Haryana will expand to 25.8 kilometres.

"Passenger services on the City Park (Bahadurgarh) – Mundka Metro corridor of the Delhi Metro will be starting from 4 pm on Sunday, that is, the 24th of June, 2018. As per the timetable for the entire Inderlok/Kirti Nagar – City Park section, a total of 20 trains will be put into service," said Anuj Dyal, Executive Director, Corporate Communication, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. "Every alternate train from Mundka will go up to City Park in Bahadurgarh and a frequency of around 8 minutes will be maintained between Mundka and City Park. The total running time between Inderlok/Kirti Nagar and City Park (Bahadurgarh) will be about 50 minutes," he further informed.

The corridor will have a total of seven elevated stations. of these, four will be in Delhi and the remaining in Haryana. These will be Mundka industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan, Tikri Border (Delhi) and Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand, and City Park (Haryana). With the completion of this corridor, the entire Inderlok- Bahadurgarh section has become 26.33 km long.

The corridor will help lakhs of workers who travel from Delhi to Mundka and Bahadurgarh daily. Both towns have several industrial units that employ people from Delhi. Those working in Industrial Estate, Bahadurgarh will be benefitted with the Modern Industrial Estate (MIE) metro station. This area has many industries around the NIE Metro station.

The Bus Stand Metro Station in Bahadurgarh has seamless connectivity with the interstate bus terminal which provides connectivity to other areas in Haryana.

Besides, Bahadurgarh has also developed into an educational hub and houses many universities and colleges. The new train will aid many students who travel to these institutes from Delhi every day.
