Noida waste collection outsourced for Rs 300 crore

The Noida Authority has hired a Mumbai-based firm to start work on door-to-door garbage collection. The agency will provide equipment and manpower for an annual fee of Rs 300 crore for a period of 10 years, an officer on special duty of the Noida Authority said.

The firm, AG Enviro Infra Project, will set up garbage collection points at more than 50 locations across the city.

Gaurav Kapoor, corporate development officer, said, "We will lift garbage from residential, commercial and industrial areas, as also schools, hospitals and other sectors of the city. For this, we will start a survey soon. We will put 160 trucks for collection of waste — 125 small trucks and 35 big trucks. We will also use hydraulic containers for the process. Also, vehicles carrying the waste to the landfill site will be covered on all sides."

"We have experience in this domain and have been doing the same in Greater Noida, Bengaluru, New Mumbai, some parts of Delhi, and other places," Kapoor said.

The Noida Authority, however, is yet to finalise a landfill site to treat the waste. As of now, it will be using an area of 16,000 sq.m. in Mubarakpur village in Sector 145.

Meanwhile, another project for mechanised road sweeping has been awarded to Chennai MSW. It will cover 93 km roads on a daily basis. The third tender has been awarded to Delhi-based Ramky Envirotech for the construction and demolition of debris management. The company is to set up its facility at Sector 140 and will have designated points across Noida to store the debris before it is transported to a designated site for processing. The by-products are to be re-utilised in various civil construction activities. The project is to commence from March 2019.
