Born on September 14, 1954, Shrikant Jichkar is widely considered as India’s most educated person ever. Shrikant Jichkar was an IAS officer, who later went into politics. He has earned 20 university degrees was elected the youngest MLA in India when he was just 26. Shrikant Jichkar was born at Katol, Maharashtra.

Shrikant Jichkar obtained his first degree in medicine (MBBS and MD from Nagpur) and then went on to earn degrees in Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws in international law, Master of Business Administration, Doctor of Business Management, Bachelor of Journalism, Doctor of Literature in Sanskrit, ten Masters of Arts degrees in public administration, sociology, economics, Sanskrit, history, English literature, philosophy, political science, ancient Indian history, culture & archaeology, and Psychology. Shrikant Jichkar was a very meritorious student and he got several gold medals for his degrees. According to reports, Shrikanth appeared in 42 university examinations between 1973 and 1990.  He wrote these exams every summer and every winter.

In 1978, Shrikant Jichkar cleared UPSC exam and was selected as a central civil servant under the Indian Police Service cadre. Jichkar resigned from the cadre in 1980 and then cleared UPSC again to become an IAS officer. Few weeks after becoming an IAS officer, Jichkar contested election and became an MLA. Jichkar was later appointed as a a minister and was given charge of 14 portfolios.

Shrikanth was was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (1980–85), Maharashtra Legislative Council (1986–92) and served as Minister of State, Government of Maharashtra. He also went to Rajya Sabha and remain an MP between 1992–98. In 1992, Jichkar founded Sàndipani school at Nagpur.

Shrikant Jichkar died at a young age of 49 after his car met with an accident June 2, 2004 near Kondhali, around 50 kilometers from Nagpur.
