From Priyanka Chopra to Disha Patani: Bollywood divas who made their acting debut with South films

While Deepika Padukone will be starring alongside South superstar Prabas in a soon to be released and yet to be titled film, it might take many by surprise to know that not 'Om Shanti Om' but Kannada film 'Aishwarya' (2006) was Deepika's debut in films. Directed by Indrajit Lankesh, the movie also starred Upendra in the lead role. Later, Deepika made her big Bollywood debut with Farah Khan's blockbuster hit 'Om Shanti Om' starring Shah Rukh Khan, however, the diva returned South for 'Kochadaiiyaan' co-starring Rajinikanth in 2014.

A global icon, Priyanka Chopra success story is nothing short of inspirational. From ruling Bollywood to making a mark in Hollywood, Priyanka has touched many milestones in her professional career. However, not many know that the 'The Sky Is Pink' actress made her big acting debut with a Tamil film titled, 'Tamizhan' in 2002. Later, she made her Bollywood debut with 'The Hero' as the second female lead opposite Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. Not just that, Priyanka also made her singing debut with the same film where she lent her voice to the song, 'Ullathai Killathe'. 

One of the most popular B-town heroines, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her acting debut with a Tamil film titled, 'Iruvar' in 1997. Afterwards, Aishwarya made a name for herself in Bollywood. However, the actress is planning to make her comeback into South films with Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan'.

Kriti Sanon made her big Bollywood debut alongside Tiger Shroff in 'Heropanti'. Later, she went onto star in several remarkable films like 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' and more. However, very few know that she made her acting debut way before 'Heropanti' in 2014 Telugu film '1: Nenokkadine. The film starred Mahesh Babu in the lead besides Kriti.

You may know actress Taapsee Pannu as the B-town diva who has been giving back-to-back hits, but, did you know that the star made her debut in films down South? Taapsee made her acting debut with the 2010 Telugu film 'Jhummandi Naadam'. Later, acted in the 2011 Tamil film, 'Aadukalam'. As for Bollwyood, she made her Hindi film debut with David Dhawan's comedy 'Chashme Baddoor'. 

Illeana D'Cruz made her screen debut in 2006 with Telugu-language film 'Devadasu'. She forayed into Bollywood with 2013 film, 'Phata Poster Nikhla Hero'.
