Dia Mirza does a realty check

Actor Dia Mirza is in a state of transition. While remaining loyal to her primary career option — acting — Dia is planning to venture into a completely new territory. She is looking to start her own real estate business because she wants to make sure that she has a constant source of income even when she is out of Bollywood.

“I’m acting now and doing okay for myself but I can’t be an actor all my life and expect the same amount of money to come to me. My friends are heavily into the real estate business and they have been insisting for a long time that I join the sector. To me, it makes sense too as it will be a kind of security for the future,” she says.
Dia adds, “I will soon open my company. I’m looking to make myself a weekend home out of Mumbai. I would love to do it in the idyllic Lavasa. There is lots of scope in that township. I will look at building properties and renting them out rather than going into direct buying and selling land. The current environment is good for the real estate sector with prices rising. In a couple of years, I will divert more energy to my business.”

Many actors are now turning entrepreneurs. Dia feels, “There is nothing wrong in expanding horizons. Not just in Bollywood, but also in Hollywood almost all actors have their own business. If you have the resources and the desire, there’s nothing wrong in doing that. I love travelling and it is from there that my love of properties, new locations arise.”
