It was fun to work with Abhishek Bachchan: Shruti Pathak

It all began with the track Mar Jaawan (from the Priyanka Chopra starrer Fashion) that Shruti Pathak managed to mesmerise audience with her soul stirring voice. Post that, Shruti has only been scaling new heights.

The latest highpoint — the singer has sung alongside actor Abhishek Bachchan for his upcoming film Players. The song titled Buddhi Do Bhagwan has Shruti and Abhishek performing a duet of sorts.  “We both are there on the song throughout… and lately the promotions have started and the song is being marketed heavily,” says Shruti. And how easy/difficult was it to sing along with Abhishek? “Nothing is easy, and this too wasn’t. It wasn’t difficult either though. It was fun doing the song… and more so because it was Abhishek’s voice. He had also sung Right Here right now (Bluffmaster).” She continues, “I think he makes for a good singer. He has this very hip hop vibe to his personality as well. I heard the song that we sang together and it’s sounding amazing.”

Ask her about her best singing experiences and she is quick to reply, “I got a chance to sing with Shafqat Amanat Ali in the movie Love Breakups Zindagi. I had always been a huge fan of him,” says Shruti, adding that the song 'Chhayee Hai Tanhayee' was a beautiful composition by Salim-Suleiman. “It’s sad it couldn’t do too well… maybe because the film didn’t prove to be much of a success,” she adds.

Shruti has worked with most of the big names in Bollywood, including Salim-Suleiman, Vishal-Shekhar and, most recently, Pritam. However, the singer is keen to work with music composer AR Rahman next. “I think I have worked with most people already except for Rahman Sir, and I am really looking forward to working with him too,” exclaims Shruti, who is now trying to strike a balance between playback singing and her independent music that she is already working on. “I want to give my listeners a piece of my original music too. But as of now, Bollywood remains my first love!
