A store owner threatened to sue the channel for shooting a love-making scene on Zee TV’s 12/24 Karol Bagh.
Several actors have a problem doing scenes that involve even slight on-screen intimacy. There have been instances where actors has requested directors to change scenes so that the extent of lovemaking is reduced.
But have you heard of a storekeeper threatening to sue a channel and a production house in full view of the unit members? Well, that is exactly what happened on Zee TV’s 12/24 Karol Bagh.
A unit member said: “The scene had the majhli [middle] daughter of the family, Neetu, and her boyfriend going out shopping in a mall and ending up in a retail store for the night. Now, according to the story, the young couple ends up making love in the store."
According to the member, it was with much difficulty that the team got permission to shoot the sequence as nobody was willing to grant them permission.
"The production house sought permission from the mall and the store owner and they were initially cool with it. But when the store owner found out that they were going to shoot a lovemaking sequence in the store, he just refused to let us shoot."
When the production team insisted that they needed to shoot the sequence as it was critical to the script, the store owner threatened to file a suit against the production house!
"When the production house argued that it had the necessary permissions and had no back-up location, he argued, ‘Woh sab mujhe nahi pata, jab mere bachchon ko pata chalega ki humari dukaan mein aisa shooting hua hai toh main unko kya jawab dunga? Aap bas yahaan se nikaliye! [When my kids find out that I allowed a lovemaking scene in the store, I will have no face to show them. You leave the premises right away]," he shouted.
In the end, however, he had to budge as senior unit members stepped in and made him see reason. The shoot was completed under the watchful eyes of the store owner!
